Jenna and Nathan were married on a beautiful, fall day in September in the Rexburg temple. I had the joy of capturing their first look and bridals before the wedding day! Throughout the last year I’ve gotten to photograph many first look moments, and have come to really love them.
Here are several reasons why I highly recommend doing a first look, even if you’re thinking of going the more traditional route:
If you’re having a traditional ceremony:
- It gives you a special moment during your wedding day to spend together with no one else around, and really take in the moment together everyone watching. After all, don’t you really want to spend more of your wedding day with your husband or wife-to-be?
- It allows you to do family and bridal party photos before your ceremony, which means you can send your friends and family off to party immediately after! It also allows more time for you to relax and socialize with your guests before the reception.
If you’re being sealed in the temple:
- You get to capture the moment you see each other for the first time, which contains so much excitement and joy! And trust me, it will not make the moment you see each other for the first time in the temple any less special.
- It allows us an opportunity to take your bridal portraits during “golden hour.” This is the hour right before sunset when the light is soft and dreamy. Often times, temple wedding day schedules don’t allow for us to photograph you during that time, so we can do it an evening before (like Jenna and Nathan)!
You definitely don’t have to do a first look! But they truly are such a special moment, and it’s always an honor to be able to capture that. Now, enjoy these two cute faces!
